Karma; it`s a good thing that it comes back around, because when it bites you in the ass, it makes you realize the pain you put someone else through. There`s no better understanding of pain until you experience it yourself. It makes you extra careful to not hurt anyone else that way again, because you now know exactly what that hurt feels like.
